In the US and Canada, Black History Month takes place during the entire month of February and is dedicated to remembering and recognizing important people and events of African descent.
While we still have a long way to go in order to reach equality, it’s important to recognize the accomplishments and contributions that have been made throughout history by prominent figures such as Martin Luther King Jr., Frederick Douglass, Rosa Parks, and Jesse Owens among many others.

In today’s episode, we discuss white privilege, police-protester tensions, and how after centuries of racial discrimination and senseless killings at the hands of police, Black Lives Matter still seeks justice and equality.
Racism is an issue that negatively affects all regions of the world and has especially shaped the culture of the United States. It has caused racial tensions, deep unfairness, mistreatment and unjust killings of blacks and Latinos for centuries. Given the current events of racial protests happening in the United States around the death of African-American man, George Floyd, in Minneapolis, we thought it would be a good opportunity to give our listeners a better understanding of the roots behind racism in the US.
